General Counsel

The Company is in search of a General Counsel to serve as the senior legal advisor across its complex, matrixed enterprise. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day counsel on a wide range of legal matters, with a focus on general corporate, commercial, contracts, governance, and enterprise risk. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial agreements, as well as advising on legal and business issues related to the organization's diverse operations, including healthcare, senior living, nonprofit, and real estate activities. The General Counsel will also be tasked with overseeing and managing outside counsel, proactively identifying legal and regulatory risks, and building trusted relationships with executive teams and boards. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should hold a J.D. from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar, with a preference for California bar membership or eligibility. The ideal candidate will have significant corporate legal experience, with a strong background in general corporate matters, contracts, business transactions, and governance. Prior experience as a General Counsel is strongly preferred, and candidates with a background in regulated industries or advising regulated businesses will be at an advantage. The role requires excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage a broad portfolio of legal matters and work effectively within a complex organizational structure.
