About the Role
Greater San Jose, CA Area (Hybrid - Headquarter location)
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development to join its dynamic team. This senior leadership role is pivotal in managing and developing a team of six fundraising professionals, as well as maintaining a personal portfolio to cultivate six- and seven-figure gifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction across major gifts, fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and donor engagement. This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop a team, coach them through the full fundraising cycle, and strengthen collaboration to meet the philanthropic goals of the institution. Candidates for the Executive Director of Development position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years' of successful professional development and/or fundraising experience, with a proven track record in securing significant gifts. A Master's degree and experience in higher education are preferred. The role requires a leader with the ability to translate academic and institutional priorities into compelling philanthropic opportunities, as well as a deep understanding of the academic enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in frontline fundraising, be adept at developing donor-centric strategies, and have experience in a capital or comprehensive campaign environment. The role demands a high level of ethics and integrity, and the ability to engage and support volunteer leadership in fundraising.
