Head of Legal, Commercial Finance

The Company is in search of a Head of Legal with a focus on commercial finance to join their team. The successful candidate will serve as the senior internal legal advisor, providing trusted counsel on a wide range of legal matters. This role is pivotal in the organization's mission to expand access to capital and economic opportunity, particularly in the areas of commercial lending, distressed assets, and complex transactions. The Head of Legal will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating a variety of legal documents, advising on corporate governance, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. A key aspect of the position is the ability to distinguish between material legal risks and manageable business risks, and to help the organization move forward with clarity and respect. Applicants for the Head of Legal position at the company should have a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school, active membership in the Oregon and/or Washington State Bar, and approximately 7-10 years' of legal experience, with a strong background in commercial lending and finance. Experience within a financial institution or significant experience representing such entities is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a working familiarity with corporate governance, commercial contracts, and legal issues relevant to financial services. While not required, exposure to community development finance, innovative financing models, and cultural awareness is welcomed. The role demands a professional with the ability to manage outside counsel, build trusted relationships, and work effectively with diverse communities.
