Senior Counsel

The Company is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their dynamic organization in the financial services industry. The successful candidate will be a strategic legal advisor, providing guidance on a wide range of financial services, regulatory, and operational matters. This senior role is pivotal in supporting consumer and commercial lending through the development of practical legal solutions, the strengthening of compliance programs, and the proactive management of legal risk in a complex financial services environment. Responsibilities include advising on consumer and commercial finance laws, lending practices, and related compliance requirements, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal exposure. Applicants must have a JD degree, active CA bar membership, and a minimum of 5-10 years' legal experience, with a strong background in consumer finance regulatory compliance, particularly within banking, lending, or financial services. Experience in advising on federal and state consumer lending laws and regulations, as well as a background working with a bank, credit union, or other financial institution, is essential. The role also involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various business contracts and agreements, monitoring evolving laws and regulations, and working cross-functionally to support organizational goals while managing legal and regulatory risks. In-house experience, particularly with commercial finance or capital markets, and experience in managing outside counsel, are considered advantageous.
