About the Role
Greater Baltimore, MD Area (On-site)
The Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to serve as its senior finance leader and trusted partner to ownership. This hands-on role combines strategic financial leadership with direct responsibility for accounting operations, including monthly close, financial statements, job-cost reporting, and project-based accounting. The CFO will review significant bids and contracts, strengthen policies and controls, improve reporting, and translate financial results into practical guidance for project and operations teams. Responsibilities also include developing the accounting function, improving accountability, and supporting growth and capital-allocation decisions. Candidates should have substantial finance or accounting leadership experience, ideally as a hands-on CFO or senior controller ready to step into a CFO role. Experience in construction, government contracting, or another project-based industry is strongly preferred, along with familiarity with project accounting, work in progress, cost-to-complete, pricing, and margin analysis. The ideal candidate has worked in a privately held business of comparable scale and has personally owned accounting responsibilities, not only overseen them. Strong judgment, integrity, communication, and the ability to move between detailed financial work and strategic discussions are essential.
