Head of Sales
Hiring Company
About the Role
Remote (anywhere in United States)
The Company is seeking its first Head of Sales to expand school- and district-wide adoption of its educational offerings. The role owns the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery through demonstrations, quotes, purchase orders, and closing, while managing a high volume of short-cycle opportunities. The Head of Sales will convert existing educator interest into qualified leads, engage school and district decision-makers, and represent the organization at select industry events. In parallel, this leader will build the sales function from the ground up, establishing processes, pricing and quoting workflows, CRM and reporting, and a sales playbook. Responsibilities also include forecasting revenue, reporting results to leadership, and sharing customer feedback with internal teams. Candidates should have at least three years of experience selling to K–12 school districts; early elementary experience is preferred. A track record of building a sales function from scratch at a smaller organization, along with transactional sales experience and knowledge of school purchasing, budgets, funding, purchase orders, and procurement timelines, is important. The role calls for strong organization, data skills, forecasting ability, and clear, warm communication with educators. Experience as a teacher, principal, or curriculum director; familiarity with structured literacy and the science of reading; relationships with K–2 decision-makers; and experience selling digital subscriptions or site licenses are advantageous.
