Chair of the Executive Board

The Company is seeking a Chair of the Executive Board and Rector Magnificus to guide its strategic direction and societal impact. The role leads the development of education and research, strengthens the academic profile, and builds connections with national and international networks and wider society. The Chair also contributes to organizational and financial sustainability, future planning, and collaboration with educational and societal partners. As the institution’s figurehead, the Chair works collegially with the executive team and represents the organization in key stakeholder relationships. Candidates should be professors or established scholars in the social sciences, humanities, or a related field, with strong records in both education and research. They should bring senior administrative experience in a university, research institute, or comparable knowledge institution, including an understanding of shared governance and student perspectives. A genuine connection to humanism, organizational and financial insight, strategic networking ability, and experience building partnerships are important. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and English are required, along with empathetic, decisive, diplomatic leadership and the ability to connect people, encourage initiative, and respond constructively to change.
