Managing Director

The Company is seeking a Managing Director to lead its business operations and overall performance in the Japanese market. The role carries full P&L accountability and focuses on commercial growth, profitability, customer relationships, market share, and operational excellence. Responsibilities include developing and executing country strategy, leading sales and business development, managing key accounts, and identifying new market opportunities. The Managing Director will guide cross-functional teams, oversee financial planning and performance, strengthen the leadership team, and ensure service quality, compliance, and effective risk management. The role also involves coordinating with regional and global leadership and representing the business with customers and other stakeholders. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, maritime studies, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent is an advantage. Extensive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, shipping, or a related industry is required, along with a strong record in sales, commercial management, and business development. Applicants should have P&L or significant financial accountability and experience in country leadership, general management, or senior commercial leadership. Strong knowledge of the Japanese market, established customer and industry relationships, commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and the ability to lead high-performing teams in a global matrix environment are essential.
