But the story is bigger than growth metrics and awards. Luminate Bank is building a culture designed for ambitious, high-performing people who want to shape the future of banking. We move quickly, think boldly, and invest deeply in our people. Innovation, accountability, collaboration, and customer experience are at the center of everything we do.
What began as a rapidly growing lending and banking platform is now entering its next phase: building a nationally recognized financial brand that redefines how modern banking is experienced. For leaders who want the opportunity to build, scale, and leave a lasting impact, this is a rare moment to join a company with startup energy, national momentum, and a long runway ahead.
Position Overview:
The VP, Data Analytics leads Luminate Bank’s data function across both the bank and the mortgage division. This leader owns the company’s data platform, coordinating data integrations with core systems, data engineering team, data vendor management and enterprise reporting, and is accountable for turning data from our banking, mortgage, servicing, and customer systems into trusted, timely insight for executives, finance, and operations.
The immediate priority is to take ownership of our in-flight Data Lakehouse, carry it to completion, and transition its build and support from our external consulting partner to an internal team as quickly and safely as possible, leaving Luminate fully able to run, maintain, and extend the platform on its own. Alongside that, this role leads the data integration workstream of our new loan origination system (Vesta) implementation, owns the financial and management reporting needs of the bank and mortgage division, and sets the standards for data governance, quality, and security. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can set strategy with executives and still roll up their sleeves with a small, high-performing team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Data Lakehouse Completion and Consultant Transition
Take ownership of the in-flight Data Lakehouse (Snowflake, Power BI and supporting ingestion tools) and drive it to completion against a defined scope, timeline, and budget.
Lead an accelerated transition of build and support from the external consulting team to Luminate staff: inventory remaining deliverables, define acceptance criteria, and set a handoff plan with clear milestones and an end date.
Secure complete transfer of all assets, including source code, pipelines, data models, transformation logic, documentation, environments, credentials, and administrative access, so that everything is held in Luminate-owned accounts and version control.
Reduce key-person and vendor risk by ensuring every critical pipeline and report is documented, has runbooks, and can be supported by at least two internal team members.
Assess current ingestion and integration tooling and recommend whether to keep, replace, or consolidate components (including Azure-native options) based on cost, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
Establish the long-term operating model for the platform, including monitoring and alerting, incident response, change management within the technology SDLC, and cloud cost management.
Team Leadership
Lead, hire, coach, and develop a small team of data engineers; set priorities, engineering standards, code review practices, and performance expectations.
Serve as a player-coach, contributing directly to architecture, data modeling, and pipeline development when needed.
Plan and deliver work within the technology team’s SDLC, including grooming, capacity planning, documentation, and release management.
Foster a culture of ownership, documentation, and knowledge sharing so the team is resilient to turnover.
Financial and Management Reporting
Own the data and reporting needs of both the bank and the mortgage division, including financial, management, and operational reporting.
Partner with Finance, Accounting, Capital Markets, and business leaders to define key metrics and deliver a single, trusted source of truth that reconciles to the general ledger.
Support the data needs of regulatory and compliance reporting (for example Call Report and HMDA), with controls that ensure accuracy and auditability.
Deliver executive dashboards and self-service reporting in Power BI, retiring manual and spreadsheet-based reporting (and Domo) where possible.
Vesta LOS Implementation – Data Integration
Lead the data integration workstream of the Vesta loan origination system implementation, including data mapping, conversion and migration of loan data from the current LOS, historical data retention, and conversion validation.
Design and build integrations and data feeds between Vesta, the Data Lakehouse, and downstream systems such as servicing, accounting, CRM, and secondary marketing, using vendor APIs and modern integration patterns.
Ensure reporting continuity through cutover so that production, pipeline, and financial reporting are not disrupted.
Partner closely with Engineering, Enterprise Systems, Mortgage Operations, and the Vesta implementation team on scope, testing, and readiness.
Data Management and Governance
Establish and maintain a practical data governance framework: data ownership, business definitions, data dictionary, lineage, and data quality monitoring.
Protect customer and borrower data (NPI/PII) through role-based access, encryption, retention standards, and compliance with GLBA and other applicable regulations; support internal audit, external audit, and regulatory examinations.
Integrate data across core banking, mortgage, servicing, CRM, and digital banking platforms to support a unified view of the customer.
Prepare governed, well-modeled data to support Luminate’s AI, automation, and advanced analytics initiatives.
Manage relationships, contracts, and costs for data-related tools and vendors in partnership with Technology Vendor Management.
The responsibilities described above are representative and not all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned to support business objectives.
Qualifications and Skills:
8+ years of experience in data engineering, data analytics, or business intelligence, including 5+ years leading and developing data engineers.
Experience in banking and/or mortgage lending required; experience across both is strongly preferred.
Proven track record taking ownership of a data platform from consultants or vendors, stabilizing it, and building an internal team to run it.
Hands-on expertise with Snowflake (or a comparable cloud data platform), advanced SQL, Python, and modern ELT/integration tools such as Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, or dbt.
Strong Power BI experience, including semantic models, governance, and executive dashboard design.
Experience with an LOS or core banking conversion; familiarity with Encompass, Jack Henry, and mortgage servicing data preferred.
Solid understanding of bank and mortgage financial reporting, including general ledger reconciliation, Call Report, HMDA, and mortgage production and pipeline metrics.
Strong data modeling skills (dimensional and/or Data Vault), plus experience with data lineage, quality, and governance practices.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Git-based version control, and CI/CD practices for data pipelines.
Experience securing sensitive data in a regulated financial institution and supporting audits and exams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical topics for executives and business partners.
Snowflake, Azure, or Power BI certifications preferred.
