Head of Sustainable Finance & ESG

The Company is seeking a Head of Sustainable Finance and ESG to take on a strategic leadership role in the development and execution of its sustainable finance and ESG strategy in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sustainable finance initiatives across various banking sectors, including corporate banking, investment banking, and global markets. This senior position involves advising major corporate clients on ESG financing, sustainable investment, and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The role also includes identifying new commercial opportunities, developing innovative sustainable finance solutions, and building strategic relationships with key market stakeholders. Applicants must have extensive experience in corporate and investment banking, sustainable finance, or a related financial services function, with a proven track record in ESG and sustainable finance. The role requires a strong understanding of Japanese and global ESG regulations, sustainability frameworks, and market developments. The ideal candidate will have senior-level experience, excellent communication, relationship management, and influencing skills, and the ability to engage with senior internal and external stakeholders. A leadership capability to shape strategy, influence organizational change, and promote ESG awareness is essential. Professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications in sustainability, ESG, or related disciplines are preferred, as well as experience in representing a financial institution at industry forums and established relationships with relevant Japanese regulators and government organizations.
