Senior Legal Counsel

The Company is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to take on a pivotal role as the lead counsel in strategic priority areas and key brand teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and risk-based solutions on a wide range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues. This includes offering clear guidance on Japanese laws and regulations related to promotion, patient support, market access, launch strategies, and collaboration models. The role demands proactive leadership in addressing core strategic business challenges, anticipating hurdles, and evaluating the broader business impact of proposed solutions. The Senior Legal Counsel will also be involved in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements, and will support executive matters as well as drive workstreams within the global legal team. Applicants for the Senior Legal Counsel position at the company should have a Bachelor of Law degree, Bar admission in Japan, the US, or other major jurisdictions, and a minimum of 10 years' relevant legal experience, with a strong preference for those with a background in the life science industry. The role requires a solid understanding of general contracts, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property matters, anti-bribery laws, ethics and compliance, personal data protection, and competition law. Native-level Japanese language skills and excellent English proficiency are essential. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing business-oriented, efficient, and flexible legal solutions, and will be adept at working in a dynamic, international legal environment.
