Head of Settlements

The Company is seeking a commercially minded Head of Settlements to lead a large-scale motor settlements function. The role combines strategic and operational leadership, with responsibility for developing managers and technical claims teams, setting effective settlement strategies, and delivering fair, efficient, and cost-conscious outcomes. The successful candidate will use claims data and performance measures to improve settlement quality, timeliness, and costs, while addressing claims leakage and overseeing complex disputes and litigation-related matters. They will also drive process improvement, strengthen operational performance, and build effective relationships across a complex, multi-site operation. Candidates should bring significant leadership experience in motor insurance claims, settlements, or a closely related function, along with strong technical knowledge of claims practices, relevant legislation, and industry standards. Experience leading leaders and large operational teams, managing negotiations and disputes, and identifying claims leakage is essential. The role also requires commercial acumen, confidence using data to guide decisions, and a track record of process improvement and change involving technology or automation. Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder-management, and coaching skills are important.
