The successful candidate will be a pragmatic trusted advisor to senior management, providing strategic legal advice to mitigate risks and protect the company's interests. This role also involves offering insights into the regulatory environment to support the growth of the digital economy and leading the legal team in the development of internal compliance programs. The ideal candidate will have an LLB degree, be admitted as an attorney or practicing advocate, and have a minimum of 10 years' legal experience, with at least 3 years in a senior legal role, preferably in the eCommerce or technology sector. Applicants for the Group General Counsel position at the company should possess in-depth knowledge of South African laws and regulations relevant to eCommerce, as well as proven experience in contract negotiation, litigation, and dispute resolution.
