Greater Des Moines, IA Area (Hybrid)
The Company is seeking an AVP & Actuary to join their Benefits & Protection Financial Reporting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing key financial processes to ensure strategic growth and profitability within the Benefits & Protection Specialty Benefits segment. This role requires a strong focus on financial goals, customer service, internal process improvements, and the development of human capital. The AVP & Actuary will also be a trusted and strategic advisor, driving financial outcomes, and influencing investments for future growth. Core responsibilities include financial projections, reserve valuation, financial reporting, and driving continuous process efficiencies. Applicants for the AVP & Actuary position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 15 years of related experience. A background in financial and budgetary matters is essential, and knowledge of group benefit products is a plus. The ideal candidate will have designations such as Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). The role demands excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as the ability to apply strategic and long-range visionary thinking. The AVP & Actuary will also be responsible for leading a team, so experience in team management and development is required.
