Head of Contracts & Procurement

The Company is seeking a Head of Contracts and Procurement to take on a pivotal role in the strategic management and performance of a diverse and high-profile portfolio of contracts, with a focus on greenspace, leisure, and cultural services. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the governance and performance of contracts worth over £6 million annually, ensuring exceptional service delivery, strong commercial outcomes, and meaningful social value. This role goes beyond traditional contract management, requiring the establishment of a modern, data-led contract management function, and the development of robust frameworks and systems that drive accountability and continuous improvement. The Head of Contracts and Procurement will also lead major procurement activities, build strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders, and manage budgets associated with large-scale contracted services. Candidates for this role should have a background in public sector procurement, commissioning, contract management, or commercial service delivery, with experience in managing high-value contracts within a complex environment. The role demands a proven track record in establishing or improving contract management frameworks, governance processes, and performance monitoring systems, as well as strong procurement and commissioning experience. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage budgets and deliver value-for-money outcomes.
