Head of Governance, Compliance, & Risk

The Company is seeking a Head of Governance, Compliance, and Risk to advise the Board and senior leadership, strengthen organizational resilience, and protect its reputation and financial integrity. The role leads governance, legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, and internal audit across a complex international organization. Responsibilities include supporting effective Board governance, advising on subsidiary structures and contracts, maintaining a comprehensive risk framework, and fostering compliance in areas such as data protection, sanctions, fraud prevention, and anti-money laundering. The successful candidate will oversee regulatory filings and internal audit planning, provide clear guidance on complex issues, and lead a team focused on accountability and continuous improvement. Candidates must hold a professional qualification in law, accountancy, internal audit, or corporate governance, and have at least five years of experience in UK charity and corporate governance, compliance, and risk management within complex organizations. They should bring advanced knowledge of legal frameworks, regulatory requirements, risk management, and internal audit, along with expertise in interpreting legislative changes. Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and leadership skills are essential. Experience as legal counsel, in international settings, or with data protection and changing political environments is desirable.
