Interim Head of Finance, Close Down

The Company is seeking an Interim Head of Finance to lead a critical close-down and audit program. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the external audit process, including all interactions with auditors for the current year and historical backlogs. This role requires a hands-on approach to driving year-end accounts production, preparing and posting audit adjustments, and finalizing the Statement of Accounts. The Interim Head of Finance will also be tasked with leading year-end closedown activities, coordinating deadlines, and ensuring the financial reporting is audit-ready. Additionally, the role involves managing and developing a small finance team, so strong leadership skills are essential. Applicants for the Interim Head of Finance position must have a strong local government finance background, with extensive experience in Statement of Accounts and a detailed knowledge of relevant accounting standards. Essential experience includes managing external audit relationships, dealing with audit backlogs, and a hands-on delivery approach to complex financial processes. The ideal candidate will have previously operated in a senior finance role such as Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, Technical Accountant, or similar, and be adept at strengthening working papers and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role is suited to a proactive individual who can quickly take ownership of the assignment and is available for an immediate start.
