The Company is in search of a new Chair for its Board of Trustees, a pivotal role in the institution's development. The successful candidate will lead the Board, ensuring the Museum meets its charitable objectives, upholds the highest standards of governance, and is well-positioned for long-term success. This includes providing strategic leadership in the Museum's future location and physical development, as well as being a visible advocate and ambassador, strengthening relationships across various sectors. The Chair will also champion the Museum's fundraising efforts, supporting a multi-million-pound capital campaign and fostering relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and statutory funders. Applicants for the Chair position should have a proven track record in senior leadership, with experience in governance and a background in relevant sectors such as technology, property, the public sector, or museums. The role requires excellent communication skills, a strong personal interest in the Museum's vision and work, and a commitment to inclusive and diplomatic leadership. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing change, have a good understanding of fundraising, and be dedicated to the principles of robust charity governance, financial sustainability, and compliance. The Chair will be expected to work on a pro bono basis, dedicating 2-3 days a month to the role, and must be prepared to engage with a wide range of external stakeholders, including government, business, and national cultural organizations.
