Executive Director, Data Protection & Privacy
About the Role
Greater Phoenix, AZ Area (Hybrid)
The Company is in search of an Executive Director for Data Protection and Privacy. The successful candidate will be tasked with owning and advancing the enterprise data protection program, with a focus on strategy, design, and operational execution of various data protection controls. This includes data loss prevention, data discovery and classification, and data privacy engineering. The role demands a leader with a strong technical background in data security architecture and the ability to engage with senior stakeholders on data risk. Key responsibilities also include ensuring regulatory compliance, leading incident response, and building a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years' experience in data protection, data privacy, or information security, with a proven track record in enterprise DLP programs and data privacy engineering techniques. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with a Master's degree or JD preferred, and hold professional certifications in data privacy. The role requires in-depth technical expertise in data protection and privacy engineering, as well as strong executive communication skills. Experience in a large, highly regulated industry, such as healthcare, insurance, or financial services, is a plus. The candidate should be adept at leading cross-functional teams, managing data protection programs, and driving strategic initiatives. The position demands a leader with excellent problem-solving skills, a focus on business-enabling data protection solutions, and the ability to balance data protection rigor with user experience.
