Chair, Pharmacology (Board-level role)

The Company seeks a Chair of Pharmacology to provide strategic, academic, scientific, and operational leadership across the department’s research, education, and service missions. The Chair will shape and execute a long-term scientific vision, strengthen existing research areas, and advance new opportunities in pharmacology and therapeutic discovery. Responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, and developing faculty and trainees; overseeing departmental finances, personnel, facilities, and research infrastructure; and supporting faculty in securing external research funding. The Chair will also guide teaching and interdisciplinary training, build collaborations across academic and external partners, and represent the department to institutional leaders and the broader scientific community. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant discipline and have credentials qualifying for appointment as a tenured Professor. Required qualifications include an internationally recognized, active research program with sustained independent NIH or comparable external funding, a distinguished record in research, teaching, and mentorship, and demonstrated academic leadership experience. Candidates should have a record of building competitive research programs, recruiting and developing faculty, and fostering collaborative relationships in complex research environments. Expertise spanning pharmacology, drug discovery, and computational approaches is valued, as are experience managing budgets and personnel, developing scientific strategy, and pursuing innovative research directions.
