The successful candidate will be responsible for the independent evaluation, pricing, and structuring of complex, high-hazard commercial property risks within the Excess & Surplus Lines market. This senior-level technical role requires a professional with a high degree of delegated underwriting authority, capable of managing a profitable book of business, and servicing a dedicated network of wholesale brokers. The role also involves serving as a technical mentor to junior underwriting staff. Key responsibilities include reviewing underwriting submissions, analyzing data, conducting research, calculating rating bases, and maintaining effective working relationships with producers. Applicants for the VP/Senior Commercial Property Underwriter (E&S) position at the company should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 5 years' of relevant insurance experience, particularly in Excess & Surplus lines commercial property underwriting, is preferred. The role demands proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, strong mathematical and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively. The ideal candidate will have a background in layered/shared programs, non-cat and cat-exposed properties, and experience in pricing within an MGU or surplus lines carrier.
