Associate Vice President, Applied AI & Innovation Greater Toronto, Canada Area

The Company is seeking an Associate Vice President, Applied AI & Innovation to set the strategy and technical direction for applied AI and build a high-performing multidisciplinary team. The role will identify valuable business opportunities and lead the design, testing, and deployment of reliable AI capabilities for complex workflows. Responsibilities include establishing rigorous experimentation and evaluation standards, guiding model and architecture decisions, and moving validated prototypes into production. The leader will develop reusable AI components and product roadmaps, track adoption and business impact, and partner across business, data, engineering, technology, and control functions. The role also includes setting responsible-use guardrails and ensuring AI solutions are governed, auditable, and appropriately supported. Candidates should typically have at least eight years of progressive experience in applied AI, machine learning, data science, quantitative research, or advanced analytics, including leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams. A PhD in a relevant quantitative discipline is strongly preferred; a research-intensive master’s degree may be considered with exceptional applied technical leadership. Applicants need deep expertise in several AI or machine-learning areas, strong command of experimental design and statistical evaluation, and hands-on fluency in Python and modern AI/ML ecosystems. They should understand production AI architecture, including data pipelines, model serving, cloud platforms, MLOps, security, and cost optimization, and have a record of translating research into robust production systems. Capital markets or financial-services experience is preferred, along with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate credibly with technical and business stakeholders.
