The Company is in need of a Fractional Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic financial leadership, board-level reporting, and oversight of the accounting function. The successful candidate will be the organization's officer-level finance lead, ensuring that financial operations meet the highest standards of accuracy, transparency, and impact. This part-time, remote role involves a monthly commitment of about 5 hours, with the potential to increase to 10 hours during peak seasons, such as the annual budget, year-end close, and audit and tax filing periods. Responsibilities include reviewing and signing off on the bookkeeper's work, producing monthly financial reports, and meeting with the Executive Director to discuss financial matters. During peak seasons, the CFO will also be involved in building the annual budget, preparing for board meetings, and serving as the lead contact for independent auditors. Applicants for the Fractional CFO position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in finance leadership, with a strong background in nonprofit finance, including fund accounting, restricted grants, and Form 990. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record in preparing board-ready financials, leading independent audits, and expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning for grant-dependent organizations. The ideal candidate will have a CPA or MBA in finance, be comfortable overseeing a part-time bookkeeper, and have experience in modernizing small-team finance systems. The CFO will also be responsible for setting financial policies, internal controls, and approval workflows, as well as advising on cash and reserve management.
