About the Role
Remote (anywhere in New York)
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission of preserving and protecting the natural beauty and environmental quality of the Upper Saranac watershed. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direction, management, and leadership in alignment with the organization's science-based watershed management plan. This includes overseeing core programs related to water quality, aquatic invasive species, responsible recreational use, and stewardship. The Executive Director will also be tasked with enhancing the company's presence, building relationships with local property owners and community leaders, and championing best practices for sustainable watershed management. The role demands a professional with a nonprofit management background, a strong interest in environmental issues, and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a proven track record in nonprofit management, with a focus on environmental conservation and water quality. Experience in aquatic invasive species management and familiarity with GIS/ArcGIS tools is highly valued. The ideal candidate will have a history of working with legislators, state agencies, and researchers on environmental policies, as well as strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and serving as the organization's public face. The role requires a resourceful individual with a strong work ethic, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to the mission of the company. The Executive Director will also be expected to be a skilled grant writer and to actively seek out philanthropic resources and partnerships to support the organization's initiatives.
