Head of Legal

The Company is seeking a Head of Legal for its Japan office, a pivotal role that involves close collaboration with the international team and a high level of autonomy in overseeing all legal and regulatory affairs in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting asset gathering activities, ensuring interest protection and risk management, and overseeing legal and regulatory compliance related to fund development, sales, and asset management. This includes dealing with authorities, preparing responses to regulatory inquiries, and supporting corporate governance. The role also involves monitoring regulatory trends, identifying business opportunities, and managing cross-functional projects both domestically and internationally. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years' practical experience in the asset management industry, with a focus on legal support for domestic asset management sales activities. Key requirements include a lawyer's license, fluency in Japanese, and business-level English. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of domestic market practices, corporate governance, regulations, and licensing, as well as the ability to collaborate and build relationships in a global environment. The role demands a high level of accuracy, self-management, and a business-oriented, proactive approach to learning. Experience in drafting and negotiation of sales contracts, and support for licensing of domestic fund sales and management, is essential.
