Assistant General Counsel Remote (anywhere in West Virginia)

The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join its legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing and advocating the legal interests of the institution in a wide range of matters. This includes providing direct policy-making input, drafting and reviewing institutional policies, procedures, and practices, as well as offering legal advice on issues related to various federal and state laws. The role also involves reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts, and providing high-quality legal advice to the Board. The Assistant General Counsel will be expected to conduct legal research, and assist in litigation as directed, and must be adept at working in a diverse and complex environment. Applicants for the Assistant General Counsel position at the company should have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and a minimum of 1 year of experience in two or more of the specified legal areas. The role requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong legal research and writing abilities, and the capacity to work collegially. A preference is given to candidates with 1-2 years of active legal practice. The ideal candidate will be currently licensed to practice law in West Virginia or be willing to become licensed within an agreed-upon timeframe. The position demands a high level of professionalism, the ability to handle a variety of legal issues, and a commitment to the values of the institution.
