About the Role
Remote (anywhere in United Kingdom)
;Greater Birmingham, United Kingdom Area (On-site)
The Company is seeking a Treasurer to join its Board and play a pivotal role in the financial oversight and strategic planning of the organization. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and collaborative professional with a strong background in financial planning, strategy, and a genuine commitment to the charity's mission. While a background in the sight loss sector is not mandatory, a deep understanding of the financial and governance environment in which charities operate is essential. The Treasurer will lead on financial reporting to the Board, chair the quarterly Finance Sub-Group, and work closely with the Chief Executive and Financial Controller to shape long-term financial strategy. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to provide constructive challenge, and sound judgment, and to make a real difference in the financial sustainability of the organization. Applicants for the Treasurer position at the company should be prepared to take on a voluntary role that involves four Board meetings per year, one of which is in person, and a festive get-together, as well as ad hoc support as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the year-end accounts and audit process, and must be comfortable with complex financial information and able to explain it clearly to those without a finance background. The role is particularly suited to someone who is enthusiastic about using their financial expertise to make a genuine impact and is ready to actively shape the financial strategy in line with the organization's growth and rebranding. The company is committed to building a diverse Board and welcomes interest from all backgrounds.
