Head of Accounting Department

The Head of Accounting role is a key commercial position within the company, entailing comprehensive responsibilities. The role encompasses both functional and disciplinary leadership of the department, management of financial accounting in accordance with commercial and tax law, independent preparation of financial statements under the German Commercial Code (HGB) and energy industry regulations, and responsibility for all tax-related matters. Furthermore, the position holder is responsible for the ongoing development of financial and compliance structures, corporate, business, and liquidity planning, as well as the implementation of energy industry and regulatory requirements. Candidates for this position are required to hold a qualification as a Certified Accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter), a degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting/Finance, or a comparable qualification. Several years of professional experience in accounting—specifically in preparing annual financial statements under the HGB—and sound knowledge of commercial and tax law are essential. Ideally, the candidate will have experience with tax compliance management systems. Leadership experience and knowledge of controlling, corporate and liquidity planning, and the energy and utility sector are significant advantages.
