The Company is seeking an Associate General Counsel for the APJ Commercial region. This role is pivotal, as the successful candidate will be the first legal hire in APJ and will have the opportunity to build and manage the APJ legal team as the business expands. The primary responsibilities include supporting the APJ sales team in the review and negotiation of customer agreements, leading complex cross-border transactions, and providing legal support for revenue-generating activities. The ideal candidate will have a law degree, be a member in good standing in Singapore or Australia, and have a minimum of 10 years' of post-qualification experience, with a strong background in commercial legal issues related to SaaS and software licensing. The role demands an individual with excellent judgment, a strong business orientation, and the ability to translate legal risk into practical commercial advice. The candidate should have a proven track record in drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex commercial software and SaaS agreements across multiple jurisdictions. Experience in data privacy, security, intellectual property, open-source, revenue recognition, and tax is essential. The role also requires strong interpersonal, communication, and management skills, as well as the ability to build trust and strong relationships with the sales team and other stakeholders.
