Frequently Asked Questions
What is ExecThread?
ExecThread is a platform to discover and share job opportunities at the executive level. ExecThread crowdsources thousands of executive job opportunities from members who anonymously share positions they know about but don’t plan to pursue.
What problem does ExecThread solve?
The problem with looking for an executive job today is that many high-caliber jobs are not publicly listed. As a result, it’s hard for executives to be in the know about all the potential positions available around the world. Executives can’t make their best career move if they are passively waiting for an executive recruiter to present them with a lead, or for someone in their network to come to them with a job opportunity.
We created ExecThread to solve this problem and make this incredibly frustrating process far more efficient and effective.
Am I a good fit for ExecThread?
ExecThread is a community of high-quality executives. Each applicant is carefully reviewed to ensure that the ExecThread community remains of the highest quality.
Most ExecThread members are Director-level through C-Suite professionals who want to be in the know about executive jobs that are pertinent to them. ExecThread members are employed at companies of all sizes and stages across the world.
Why should I join?
ExecThread members are able to discover new career opportunities far more effectively than today’s executive-level job search process allows. As a member of ExecThread you’ll have access to high-level job opportunities that are not publicly posted, and you are not likely to have heard about anywhere else.

Why do I need to sign in using my LinkedIn credentials when applying for membership?
We occasionally prompt applicants to sign-in via LinkedIn in order to validate their professional information. Current title, company and email address are the only pieces of information LinkedIn sends us from that sign in.
How long does it take to review my application?
We make every effort to review your application in a prompt and timely manner. In most cases applications are reviewed within 48 hours.
What considerations are made when evaluating my application?
We look for accomplished executives who will both benefit from and proactively contribute to the ExecThread community.
Can I do anything to improve my chances of being accepted?
There are three ways:
- Start contributing. Forward information about un-published job opportunities that you hear about to jobs@execthread.com (note: all submissions are anonymous).
- After signing-up please add more email addresses to your account so that we recognize you whenever you reach out to us.
- Fill in your job preferences at the end of the sign-up process so we understand more about your professional interests.
Can I refer my peers to ExecThread?
Feel free to refer your exec-level peers to ExecThread by encouraging them to sign-up here.
How do ExecThread points work?
ExecThread has an incentive-based point system: The more that members contribute, the more valuable job information they are eligible to receive. Details on how this works will be shared after you’re accepted into the network.
Does ExecThread cost anything?
ExecThread is currently free for members.
Where does ExecThread source job opportunities from?
All job opportunities are proactively contributed to us by ExecThread members. These members were either directly approached by an executive recruiter about the opportunity, or they learned about it from someone in their network. Most of these job opportunities will not be found on any public job board.
I’m a hiring manager or recruiter. Can I use ExecThread to help with my searches?
If you have inquiries about how ExecThread can help you on a Director level or above search, please reach out to talent@execthread.com
Does ExecThread actually work?

Can anyone see the jobs I contribute?
Anyone can see public information—such as company size, industry and location—but only ExecThread members have access to the most valuable information that is crowdsourced from members, including the hiring company’s name, recruiter information and company location.
All member activity on ExecThread, including your searches, contributions and redemptions, is anonymous and your privacy is respected. We will never share information about you without your explicit consent.

What should I tell executive recruiters when reaching out to them about the job opportunities that I discover on ExecThread?
– After learning about the opportunity on ExecThread (by redeeming points to find out who the hiring company, recruiters & hiring manager are) you should comb through your network to find shared connections that you might have with the recruiter(s) and/or hiring manager.
– If you have shared connections with the hiring manager then leverage the connection(s) to get a warm intro (note: hiring managers are often more receptive to in-bound leads than recruiters are).
– If hiring managers ask how you found out about the job opportunity then let them know about ExecThread (as they very well might want to be a part of the network as well) and if so then invite them to join here.
– If you don’t have shared connections with the hiring manager, then find shared connections with the recruiter(s) who are managing the search and leverage the connection(s) to get a warm intro.
– If the recruiter(s) ask how you found out about the job then tell them that you heard about it via a friend and leave it at that (note: some recruiters view ExecThread as a threat, which is short-sighted IMO, but because of that you should refrain from referencing ExecThread as a result).
