Head of Building Control & Local Land Charge

The Company is seeking a Head of Building Control and Local Land Charge to lead two essential statutory services during a transformative period. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and delivering high-quality, customer-focused services. This role involves leading service transformation, managing budgets, and developing commercial opportunities. The Head of Building Control and Local Land Charge will also be tasked with driving customer excellence, building and leading high-performing teams, and strengthening relationships with partners, regulators, and developers. Applicants for this role at The Company should be experienced and inspiring leaders with a background in building control, building surveying, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of local government and the regulatory environment, a proven track record in leading transformation and service improvement, and excellent commercial, financial, and contract management skills. A relevant degree or equivalent qualification, along with membership in a professional body such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, ICE, or IStructE, is required. The role demands a leader with strong political awareness, stakeholder management skills, and a commitment to supporting the organization's sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.
