Interim Executive Director, Environment & Economy

The Company is seeking an Interim Executive Director to lead a newly formed environment, climate, and economy directorate following an organizational restructure. The role oversees regeneration, economic development, environmental services, planning, building control, and streetscene functions. Key responsibilities include advancing major regeneration and capital growth projects, supporting local economic development priorities, and leading climate and sustainability programs, including net-zero and green-space initiatives. The director will also ensure effective delivery of frontline and regulatory services, including business regulation, enforcement, parking, and community safety. Candidates should bring senior local government leadership experience across complex, multi-service directorates. They must have a proven record of delivering regeneration, economic development, or service transformation, alongside a strong understanding of environmental services, planning, or regulatory functions. Experience leading organizational change while maintaining frontline services is essential. The role also requires the ability to work effectively with elected representatives, senior stakeholders, and partners.
