Vice President of Public Works

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Public Works to lead public and federal projects while advancing business development, project delivery, staff development, and client relationships. Responsibilities include serving as principal-in-charge and senior project manager, identifying new business opportunities, supporting proposals and contract negotiations, and building lasting client partnerships. The role also directs multidisciplinary teams and complex projects from planning and design through construction administration and closeout, while managing schedules, budgets, resources, and project finances. The successful candidate will mentor staff, oversee technical quality and risk controls, resolve project issues, and contribute to practice growth and operational goals. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an active California Professional Engineer license, with at least 15 years of relevant civil engineering experience, including substantial project leadership and management. They should have experience preparing construction plans, specifications, and technical reports, along with strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and client-development skills. The role calls for the ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and provide practical, technically sound solutions. Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
