Head of Legal

The Company is seeking a Head of Legal to oversee the Japan Legal function and manage a broad range of corporate legal matters. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on legal risks, maintaining contract management processes, and developing internal policies. The role will support business development transactions, including financing, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, investments, and alliances, while coordinating with business teams and external specialists. The successful candidate will also lead team operations, prioritize and allocate work, support equity-related matters, and coordinate with global legal colleagues. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and have more than five years of practical legal experience in a corporate legal department, or more than three years of relevant experience as a qualified lawyer. Practical experience in corporate law, including M&A, corporate and debt financing, and public markets matters, is required. Professional-level Japanese and English are essential. Experience in a related industry, business development transactions, equity compensation, insurance, intellectual property, policy development, or collaboration with international legal teams is preferred.
