Head of Legal & Compliance

The Company is seeking a Head of Legal and Compliance to take on a highly discretionary position with a focus on overseeing all aspects of domestic legal affairs and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal and compliance support for domestic operations, conducting risk assessments, and formulating response policies. This role involves close collaboration with domestic management, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various commercial transaction contracts, and ensuring the development of compliance systems in line with domestic laws and regulatory trends. The Head of Legal and Compliance will also be involved in promoting ethics and compliance programs, supporting internal investigations, and managing corporate governance and legal support for domestic corporations. Applicants must have a legal background with at least 10 years' experience, a Bachelor's degree, and be fluent in Japanese with business-level English. A lawyer's license in Japan or another jurisdiction is preferred, as is legal practice experience in the manufacturing sector. The role requires a candidate who can effectively manage disputes, claims, and regulatory responses, and who is adept at selecting and managing external legal counsel. The Head of Legal and Compliance will also be expected to collaborate with both domestic and international legal teams to ensure policy alignment and business improvement.
