About the Role
Greater Auckland, New Zealand Area (On-site)
The Company is seeking an Independent Trustee with expertise in finance, audit, and risk to contribute to governance, financial oversight, and long-term sustainability. The Trustee will provide independent oversight of financial performance, reporting, budgets, and financial planning, while strengthening audit, risk management, assurance, and internal controls. They will support investment oversight and assess significant funding proposals, contribute to strategic decisions, and help ensure resources are allocated effectively. The role also calls for constructive challenge and sound judgement in Board discussions, supporting the organization’s charitable purpose and long-term goals. An understanding of governance, assurance frameworks, financial controls, and regulatory obligations is required, as is experience contributing to Boards, committees, or similar forums—or the capability to transition into a governance role. Applicants should demonstrate independence, sound judgement, and an appreciation of kaupapa Māori, tikanga, and stewardship responsibilities. Experience in charitable or not-for-profit settings is advantageous, and a relevant professional qualification such as CA, CPA, or equivalent is highly regarded.
