Vice President, Home Office Commercial Auto Underwriter

The Company is seeking a senior commercial auto underwriting leader to support profitable growth and underwriting execution across its portfolio. The role provides technical guidance and decision-making support for complex new business and renewal accounts, while partnering with field teams and business leaders to improve growth, pricing, retention, and profitability. Responsibilities include serving as a referral resource for complex underwriting decisions, advising on field underwriting authority, and contributing market intelligence and portfolio strategies. The role also supports cross-selling, develops underwriting capabilities through training and knowledge sharing, and collaborates with legal and product teams on policy language. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of commercial auto underwriting experience, including demonstrated expertise with complex accounts. Advanced knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance practices is required; home office underwriting, leadership, or delegated authority experience is preferred. The position calls for strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, along with a record of results, customer development, and effective collaboration. Candidates should be able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work across underwriting, claims, operations, and field teams.
