Executive Director of Finance & Investment

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Finance & Investment to build its investment capability and lead financial affairs through its first mayoral term. The role includes developing an investment strategy and turning regional priorities into an investable pipeline using appropriate financing and commercial approaches. The successful candidate will attract funding and private investment by working with government, investors, businesses, and local partners. As the statutory finance officer, they will lead financial strategy and medium-term planning, establish financial assurance arrangements, and oversee commercial strategy, procurement, and audit. They will also shape the finance and investment function as the organization’s responsibilities and funding grow. Candidates must be qualified accountants with substantial senior financial leadership experience in local government or a comparably complex environment. They should bring experience unlocking investment or developing financing and commercial arrangements, building consensus among stakeholders with differing priorities, and providing candid advice. The role calls for sound judgment in balancing innovation with responsible stewardship of public funds. Strong strategic leadership and the ability to build organizational capability are essential.
