About the Role
Greater Baltimore, MD Area (On-site)
The Company is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to join its team. The successful candidate will be the first COO in the company's history, taking on the critical role of owning and enhancing the operating system to ensure the business runs on clear processes and is supported by accountable leaders at all levels. This hands-on position involves leading department heads across various functions, setting clear ownership, and working to make the business less dependent on any one person. The COO will be responsible for operations leadership, process and systems improvement, margin and financial management, people development, and growth enablement. A key aspect of the role is the partnership with the founder, where the COO will work closely with the founder to make operational decisions, provide data for strategic calls, and help turn the founder's instincts into repeatable processes. Applicants for the COO position at the company must have a strong background in senior operations leadership within a field-services, construction, or trade services business, with a revenue of $20M or more. The role requires a proven track record in building processes and using technology to enhance departmental efficiency, as well as a strong financial acumen, particularly in unit economics, job margins, and working capital. Experience in developing and managing a leadership team, a lean, owner's mindset, and a willingness to be hands-on in both the office and the field are essential. While not mandatory, experience in the restoration industry, particularly with insurance programs, and a background in residential construction or related home services, are considered advantageous. The ideal candidate will also have experience in scaling a business through rapid growth and may have a background in a private equity-backed or recently acquired company.
