The Company is seeking Lay Members for its Council, with a focus on championing regulation in the interest of consumers, digital business practices, and media, business-to-business relations and communications. The successful candidates will be expected to bring their expertise to the table, particularly in the context of the company's core regulatory activities, which include setting educational and training standards, issuing licenses to practice, maintaining a register of licensed professionals, and monitoring the work and conduct of regulated bodies. The role is pivotal in the company's commitment to high standards in legal services and its proactive approach to influencing government policy and effecting meaningful change in the sector. Applicants for the Lay Member positions should have non-executive experience at the Board level, a commitment to consumer-focused regulation, and a proven ability to shape strategic direction and ensure robust governance. The ideal candidates will have a clear understanding of the roles within a Board setting, the ability to analyze complex information, and excellent communication skills. In addition to these core attributes, the company is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute significant experience and insight in areas such as consumer interest and engagement, digital business, media relations, AI governance and ethics, and experience with Whitehall and wider government.
