Interim Head of Employment Tax

The Company is seeking an interim Head of Employment Tax to join their dynamic and forward-thinking Tax team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and governance on all employment tax matters, ensuring compliance with UK domestic legislation, and managing key external relationships, particularly with HMRC. This role is pivotal in anticipating legislative changes, minimizing risks, and supporting the overall business strategy. The Head of Employment Tax will also be involved in the analysis, submission, and management of the annual PAYE settlement agreement, as well as educating and advising stakeholders on employment tax risks and best practices. Strong leadership skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, and technical excellence in tax are essential for driving and supporting change within the organization. Applicants for the Head of Employment Tax position at the company should be tax experts with a professional tax qualification and a deep understanding of UK domestic employment tax legislation, including CIS. The role requires a candidate with a proven ability to identify and implement process improvements, lead or influence stakeholders, and operate effectively in a changing environment. Experience in managing competing priorities and adapting to evolving business or regulatory requirements is also necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to communicate tax rules clearly to non-specialists, work across various stakeholders, and identify and address new legislative impacts. While not essential, demonstrable line management experience is desirable, as the role has one direct report.
