About the Role
Greater Nacogdoches, TX Area
The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Economics and Finance. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader, fostering excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and will be responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the department. This role involves leading academic program development, assessment, and continuous improvement, as well as recruiting, mentoring, evaluating, and supporting faculty. The Chair will also be tasked with managing departmental budgets and resources, promoting collaboration, and representing the department both internally and externally. A key focus will be on supporting student success and building relationships with alumni, employers, and community partners. Applicants for the Chair position must have a terminal degree in a relevant discipline, a strong record of research and scholarly achievements, and sufficient experience to warrant a tenured appointment. The ideal candidate will have experience in academic administration, a Full Professor rank or qualifications for such, and a background in Economics, Finance, Banking, and Financial Planning programs. Familiarity with AACSB and SACS accreditation, assessment, and curriculum development is preferred. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and effective decision-making. The Chair will be expected to promote a collaborative, collegial, and inclusive academic culture, and to advance the mission of the College and University.
