General Counsel Remote (anywhere in France)

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to spearhead all legal and compliance matters as it expands globally. This pivotal role involves leading the legal function, establishing and scaling the legal department, and acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO, board, and leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for commercial and customer contracts, corporate governance, fundraising, regulatory and compliance issues, and providing employment and HR legal support. A key aspect of the role is to ensure compliance with data and AI regulations, particularly GDPR, and to monitor and adapt to emerging AI legislation. The General Counsel will also be involved in structuring processes for high-volume enterprise deals and supporting the company's international expansion. The ideal candidate is a French bar–certified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years' experience, a strong background in French commercial law, and a deep understanding of contract negotiation for enterprise SaaS. Experience in corporate governance, fundraising, and data protection is essential, with familiarity in US law and international expansion being a strong bonus. The role requires a business-oriented and pragmatic individual with an entrepreneurial mindset, who can balance risk with growth and is an excellent communicator, capable of translating legal concepts into clear guidance for business stakeholders. Full professional proficiency in French and English is a must, and the candidate should be prepared to work in a fast-paced, scaling environment.
