Head of Data Engineer & Governance

The Company is in search of a Head of Data Engineer and Governance to spearhead the establishment of a new, enterprise-wide function. This senior manager role is pivotal in transforming the management, protection, and utilization of personal and organizational data across multiple entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with local data protection laws, designing and implementing data governance frameworks, and leading a team to support both immediate regulatory needs and long-term data maturity. As the designated Data Protection Officer, the role involves shaping policy, driving cultural change, and collaborating with executive leadership, IT, legal, audit, and business units. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance and privacy, with a focus on regulatory compliance, and a proven track record in leading data management initiatives. Applicants for the Head of Data Engineer and Governance position at the company should possess a minimum S1 degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a postgraduate qualification. A background in property, hospitality, financial services, or other consumer-facing sectors is highly valued. The role requires at least 8 years' of experience in data governance or privacy, with a direct hands-on experience as a DPO or equivalent for a minimum of 3-5 years. The candidate must have a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, particularly in the context of local and international data protection laws. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is the ability to influence without direct authority and to drive cultural change around data literacy and privacy awareness. Professional certifications in data management or privacy are desirable, and a commitment to continuous learning and mentoring is expected.
