The Company is seeking a new Chair of Trustees to lead its volunteer-run charity, which is dedicated to supporting individuals with a wide range of physical and mental health needs through gardening, crafting, and fostering a sense of community. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the charity fulfills its objectives, maintains financial stability, and upholds its values of kindness, gentleness, and non-judgmental support. This role requires a commitment to the charity's mission, the ability to engage and connect with a diverse range of stakeholders, and a collaborative approach to leadership. The Chair will also be expected to have some charity experience and a skill set that includes effective communication, an understanding of the challenges faced by supported volunteers, and the ability to provide strategic guidance in the face of changing community and societal needs. Key responsibilities for the Chair of Trustees include leading the board in setting and implementing the charity's culture, direction, and strategy, as well as ensuring high standards of governance and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be passionate, motivated, and committed to the ethos of the charity, and will be able to lead with a style that reflects its values. Financial competence, the ability to recognize when external expertise is needed, and extensive change management skills are also essential. The role demands a significant time commitment, including regular board meetings and active participation in the charity's events and activities. The Chair will be expected to be personally resilient, make tough decisions, and provide stable leadership during times of transition.
