The Company is in search of a Chief Assistant County Counsel with a strong background in litigation to join their executive leadership team. This key role involves guiding the legal, operational, and strategic direction of the office, leading a complex litigation portfolio, and managing outside counsel. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing legal services, attorneys, support staff, and department operations, and will be instrumental in delivering innovative legal solutions across a broad range of public agency matters. The Chief Assistant County Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to county leadership, coordinate daily operations, and ensure the delivery of practical, strategic, and solution-oriented legal counsel that supports the company's operations and policy objectives. Applicants for the Chief Assistant County Counsel position at the company should be seasoned public sector legal professionals with a minimum of 7 years' of experience, including at least one year in a supervisory or managerial role. The ideal candidate will have a strong litigation background, political acumen, and a collaborative leadership style. Responsibilities include serving as a principal advisor on complex legal matters, representing the company in various legal proceedings, and supporting departmental fiscal and administrative functions. The role requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, a customer service mindset, and a results-oriented approach to building effective relationships. A valid California Driver's License and active membership in the State Bar of California are also mandatory.
