Interim Executive Director, Criminal Law

The Company is seeking an Interim Executive Director for Criminal Law, a key senior executive role with a focus on overseeing the delivery of high-quality, targeted, and innovative services in the publicly funded legal assistance sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a large team of legal professionals, including those in the areas of criminal law, strategy, policy, projects, and therapeutic justice. This role requires a strategic leader who can drive organizational and systemic change, influence partners and stakeholders, and advocate for systemic law reform. The Executive Director will also be expected to lead the organization's change projects, represent the organization at various legal and government forums, and build a supportive, values-driven culture. Applicants for the Executive Director position must have a law degree or relevant tertiary qualification, with a strong background in either criminal or civil law. Experience in leading a large and complex directorate or organization, as well as a track record of influencing strategic vision and policy direction, is essential. The role demands a professional with a reputation for upholding the highest ethics and integrity, and a commitment to the values of fairness, care, courage, and inclusion. While not mandatory, experience in collaborating across government and non-government entities is highly desirable. The Executive Director will be part of the organization's Executive Management Group, contributing to collective leadership and managing the operational and corporate requirements of the role.
