Head of Governance

The Company is seeking a Head of Governance to lead governance strategy and improvement across a complex, growing organization. The role involves supporting board and committee effectiveness, developing governance structures and policies, and providing expert guidance on compliance and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will lead governance reviews and assurance processes, manage and develop governance professionals, and support succession planning, trustee recruitment, and governor development. They will work closely with senior leaders and board members to align governance with strategic priorities and strengthen accountability and decision-making. Candidates should bring substantial governance experience, strong knowledge of governance principles, regulatory frameworks, and board effectiveness, and the ability to advise senior leaders and support trustees. Experience developing governance systems, processes, and frameworks, leading improvement, and supporting boards is essential. The role calls for strategic thinking, sound judgment, strong relationship-building and influencing skills, and the ability to handle both high-level planning and detailed compliance matters. Experience in a multi-academy trust or in supporting organizational growth, change, or governance reviews is advantageous.
