About the Role
Greater London, United Kingdom Area (On-site)
The Company is seeking a Trustee with a focus on paediatric research to join its Board. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the governance of the charity's research activities, contributing to the Research Strategy Advisory Board and Grants & Impact Committee. This is a voluntary, unremunerated position that requires a significant commitment of approximately 12-15 days per year, including meetings, preparation, and engagement with the charity. The ideal Trustee will have a background in senior clinical academia, with a strong understanding of the UK medical research landscape, particularly in the areas of rare diseases, novel therapies, and clinical research. Experience in research leadership, grant funding, and a deep knowledge of the assessment, funding, and governance of high-quality research is essential. Candidates for the Trustee role should be adept at making strategic decisions, have the ability to scrutinize complex proposals, and offer constructive challenges. While a paediatric background is not mandatory, experience in areas such as genomics, molecular medicine, neuroscience, or novel therapies is highly valued. The role also requires an understanding of the financial and governance environment of NHS service delivery and the ability to work in partnership with the charity's various stakeholders. The successful candidate will be expected to be articulate, robust, and able to contribute beyond their own area of expertise, all while fostering a collaborative culture within the Board. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a mission that is dedicated to transforming the lives of seriously ill children and their families through ambitious research investment.
