Head of Labour Relations

The Company is seeking a Head of Labour Relations to lead the labour law and works council function for its German entity landscape. This pivotal role involves developing and implementing a proactive works council engagement strategy, as well as managing the operational aspects, including day-to-day matters and collective bargaining. A key focus for the successful candidate will be post-close integration following a significant restructuring, acting as the primary interface to works council bodies and driving the consolidation of existing works agreement. The Head of Labour Relations will be responsible for both strategic advisory work and substantive collective bargaining, reflecting the importance of this function within the organization. The ideal candidate for this role is a fully qualified lawyer with a minimum of ten years' experience in German employment law, particularly in an employer-focused setting. A strong background in managing works council relationships, including in the context of restructuring and contested negotiations, is essential. The role requires a leader with a proven track record in developing and positioning a specialist team, as well as experience in balance-of-interests negotiations, social plans, and business transfers. Familiarity with the IG Metall tariff environment is a significant advantage. The Head of Labour Relations will be expected to demonstrate equal credibility at both the works council and executive committee levels, and to exercise sustained composure and strategic judgment in challenging situations.
